A NOTE FROM THE WORK

Two things my first look was getting wrong

Condition now comes from the sale record and the photos instead of a data field that called every house heavy. Every saved analysis carries the flood zone, and a failed lookup says so.

I found two things my first look at a house was getting wrong this week.

The first was condition. The property data I pulled rated almost every house a heavy rehab. That's useless, so the engine quit using it. Now it reads condition from the sale record and the listing photos, and it tells me how sure it is and why.

The second was flood. A first look often had no flood zone at all, because the lookup finished after the analysis saved. Worse, when the lookup failed, it read like the house was out of the flood zone. A failed check that looks like a clean answer is worse than no answer.

Now every saved analysis carries the flood zone. If the lookup can't answer, the record says so plainly. Older analyses can get it filled in without touching a single number.

When your data can't answer, does it tell you, or does it just look fine?
